Everblue by Brenda Pandos Review

Everblue by Brenda Pandos
Best friends share everything with each other. Or do they? Seventeen-year-old Ashlyn Frances Lanski is tired of her boring, single life. Spending time with her best friend Tatiana, dreaming about kissing Tatiana's twin brother Fin, and swimming competitively are her only sanctuary. The girls plan to leave their drab lakeside town far behind for college. But when Tatchi fails to return home after a family emergency, and no one knows where the family has gone, Ash chooses to do something drastic to find them.

Ashlyn is about to discover what she’d thought to be true her whole life, wasn’t, and the truth, too fantastical to imagine. Secrets lurk beneath the deep blue waters of Lake Tahoe, secrets that will change Ashlyn's life forever.

My Review:

When I was asked if I wanted to review this I jumped all over it because I love Brenda's Talisman series. I was a little worried and curious at the same time. I really wanted to see how Brenda went from writing Vampires to write about Mermaids. Also, this was my first book to read that was about Mermaids. Let me tell you Brenda did not disappoint.
I really liked how the point of view was from both main characters. I didn't have to try to guess how each of them were feeling. The flow of the story and the interactions with the characters was very easy to follow. I was able to connect with almost all the characters wither I loved them or hated them. And believe me when I say there is one character that I want to punch.
The story made me laugh, hold my breathe, and made me upset. I got so emotionally involved that my husband thought I was going crazy.
The book ended with a little cliffhanger that is just enough to make you want more. Brenda met and exceeded my expectations with this book. Just as one of her series is getting ready to end she has me hooked into another one.
Recommended for everyone!

Romancing Your Dark Side featuring Jaz Primo and Amber Scott

Today on Book Reader Addicts, authors Amber Scott and Jaz Primo are presenting a discussion on how dreams, flashbacks, and latent memories impact primary characters from each of our novels. In Amber's novel, Fierce Dawn, the inclusion of topics such as mental illness and psychological trauma intertwine to add depth to the characters and storyline. In Jaz's novel, Sunrise at Sunset, a primary character (Caleb Taylor) has traumatic childhood memories that have been blocked, and those memories attempt to manifest themselves when a forgotten individual from his past (the vampire Katrina Rawlings) reenters his life.

Jaz: So, Amber, I'm intrigued by how your character, Sadie, is plagued by dreams and other seemingly mental illness-related manifestations as part of her journey. How difficult was it to convey to the reader what her experiences were while also advancing the core storyline in a cohesive fashion? What were some of the challenges that you were faced with, and how did you overcome them?

Amber: My biggest challenge was illustrating her diagnosis while simultaneously respecting mental illness in general. I didn’t want anyone to think I was marginalizing something that affects millions. The dream sequence helped me foreshadow that her misdiagnosis was the tip of the iceberg in her becoming a changeling.

Jaz: Amber, what types of research did you do into the area of dream research and analysis techniques? Did your discoveries serve as positive revelations for further development of your characters and assist with the refinement of your storyline, or did the information that you discovered create complications for the structure and flow of your story?

Amber: I’ve long been fascinated by dream analysis and really love the Jung approach where you remove the objects or elements of a dream and replace their wording with what the element represents to you. For Sadie, she dreams of Elijah who is begging her to see, to help, to change. If she were to replace Elijah with what he represents—love, infatuation, normalcy, the unattainable—then her subconscious is revealed even more.

Jaz: As part of your research into dreams and mental illness, did it help, or perhaps challenge, your development of vampires in Fierce Dawn?

Amber: Oh, great question! I’d long ago made the connection between vampirism and addiction. If you think about it in terms of drug use, a lot of vampire lore falls into the addiction realm. The inability to see oneself in the mirror, aversion to healthy foods (garlic), a feeling of invincibility, even sensitivity to sunlight, to me sound like a junkie. So in thinking of mental illness as a sign of the human body trying to evolve, this blood as a drug falls into a denial and self-medicating arena.

Amber: So, Jaz, how is your treatment of dreams different from this in Sunrise at Sunset? What is the link to the paranormal elements for you? (PS: I adore that title!)

Jaz: In Sunrise at Sunset, the male protagonist, Caleb, has had his memories from a traumatic day during his youth blocked by the female vampire protagonist, Katrina. It is through dreams and feelings of déjà vu that his latent memories attempt to resurface during his adulthood. The link to paranormal elements is correlated to Katrina using a vampire's hypnotic abilities to block Caleb's memories during childhood.

Amber: What is it about Katrina that digs up these buried memories and dreams for Caleb?

Jaz: Following that single day during his childhood, Caleb doesn't encounter Katrina again until roughly twenty years later as an adult when she turns up as a student in his college history class. Although he doesn't recognize her, latent elements of familiarity stir in his subconscious and attempt to manifest and reassert themselves.

Amber: What is it about the human psyche that speaks paranormal to you?

Jaz: The human brain is comprised of vast, untapped areas that science has yet to unlock. It's conceivable to me that paranormal abilities could manifest themselves through the brain's inaccessible regions if only humans had a method to access them.

Amber: I totally agree! So, have you ever had recurring nightmares? Any prophetic insights from your own dreams?

Jaz: Well, I've never suffered from chronic recurring nightmares, thankfully. However, I have experienced vivid, realistic dreams (or visitations) in which departed loved ones have visited me. I swear that, upon waking, the dreams felt so tangibly real. My conversations and interactions with those individuals felt genuine and sentient. I have two distinct prophetic insights from my own dreams. First, there is something else beyond the physical plane of existence that we fleetingly dwell in here on Earth. And second, that you can occasionally experience both redemption and a sense of peaceful closure via your dreams...and those who visit you within them.

Amber: I know exactly what you mean and I just got chills!

Snarling teeth, glowing eyes. Someone--something--is after her.

The man who haunts her dreams enters her reality, claiming she's transforming into a changeling--not quite immortal but no longer human.

Battlelines are drawn and blood spills as the two fight not only for her life, but for mankind's as well.

We vampires are focused and tend to shape our own realities. My name is Katrina Rawlings, and I am a vampire. I declare that with neither pride nor ego. I am simply nature's most dangerous predator. On occasion, it's a very valuable quality. It helped me protect Caleb Taylor one day when he was very young. But that single, traumatic day is behind him now; wiped from his memory, or so I hope. Caleb has finally matured into a rather striking young man, and believe me, I like what I see. I'll readily admit that there are issues for us to confront and overcome, though a sense of mutual commitment isn't one of them. I'm feeling hopeful for our future together, in fact. But an adversary from my past has returned to haunt me, and she's trying to get back at me through Caleb. That was her first...and last...mistake. I'll protect my Caleb at all costs, and I'll make her regret the day she was born. So, I suppose that I'm not just a vampire. I'm about to become someone's worst nightmare!

Stacey Kennedy Guest Post and Giveaway!

Big thanks to Book Reader Addicts for letting me share a little about Whatnots & Doodads and hosting the giveaway. I love humor, passion, paranormal elements and emotion in a story. How about you? Do you like to laugh as you’re taken on a journey? Do you love to see a broken woman find happiness again? And do you love a sexy-as-sin demon?

I did and that’s what led me to write Whatnots & Doodads. Below is a snippet of my favorite scene from the story. If you enjoy what you read and want more, leave a comment with your email address to be entered to win!

In only a few strides, he closed the distance between them, knelt down and held the dahlia up. “You know, I’ve never been one for roses. The way a dahlia feels against your skin is much more pleasing.” He touched the back of her hand with the flower, and that earned him a little shudder. “The petals feel like a hundred fingertips along your skin.” He began to slowly run the flower up her forearm.
Her breath sucked back into her lungs. Unable to stop her eyes from shutting, she revelled in the way he touched her. So gentle, yet intent, done in a way to entice her. Slowly, the petals danced along her skin until the tips tickled her jaw line. He ran the flower from her cheek to her lips, where he slid it in a soft whisper across her mouth.
At that moment, he stopped, the flower no longer touching her. Her eyelids fluttered open, and her breath whooshed out in surprise to find his face so close to hers. He held the flower out, smiling in a way that melted her insides. “Did you enjoy the touch of that?”
“I did.” If she’d been bolder, she would have asked for more. Instead, she took the flower from his hand and raised it to her nose without taking her eyes from his.
His expression turned molten, suggesting where he wanted to take this. And she wouldn’t stop him. She needed him just as much. There was something to him, a way about him that she wanted to lose herself in, even if for only a moment. She wasn’t stupid to the ways of the world. She’d seen how cruel love could be. Zeke wanted her body, nothing more. Something she was all right with. A relationship with no strings attached was just the thing she needed to get over Layton. Her heart couldn’t handle any more pain.
With that, she gave him a sultry look to egg him on. His gaze smouldered like the fires in Hell. He leaned forward and cupped the sides of her face. “You must decide now if you want this.” He ran his thumb over her lips and licked his own. “Because once I kiss you I won’t stop.”
She was ready to say “Get on with it.” But there was a smidgen of hesitation that had her worried. “I’ve never … been with a demon.” She looked at the bulge in his pants. “Are … is everything the same?” Who knew what he had in his jeans?

His deep chuckle sent shivers down her spine. “My body is human in every sense–you won’t find a devil’s pitchfork in my pants.”
She laughed nervously. Well, what could he really expect? Her mouth parted to answer him, but she decided action would speak her point well enough. She closed the distance and kissed his mouth. If she’d doubted how much he wanted her, she didn’t now–his kiss couldn’t lie. His hands tightened around her face as his mouth encouraged in sync with hers. Tongues entwined, lips pressed together firmly. Every touch sent tingles straight to her center and caused heat to build between her thighs.
After a final swipe of her tongue, he sucked her bottom lip into his mouth and bit down very gently. He released it, still holding her face in his hands. His eyes bore into hers in a way no man had ever looked at her before. His eyebrow arched up suggestively. “Bryanna, are you ready to play with fire?”
“Holy earthquake, am I ever!”

Stacey Kennedy’s novels are lighthearted fantasy with heart squeezing, thigh-clenching romance, and even give a good chuckle every now and again. But within the stories you’ll find fast paced action, life threatening moments and a big bad villain that needs to be destroyed. Her urban fantasy/paranormal and erotic romance series have hit Amazon Kindle and All Romance Ebooks Bestseller lists. If she isn’t plugging away at her next novel, tending to her two little ones, she’s got her nose deep in a good book. She lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband. Be sure to drop her a line at www.staceykennedy.com, she loves to hear from her readers.

Michelle used to feel that she was behind in everything, especially schoolwork and relationships.
Her great aunt from the old country says that she is like a bland meal, “no salt or pepper”. But in junior year, everything changes. Her father takes a position on the Town Council, a popular boy in school becomes interested in her and, most importantly,
the Hekademos Learning Center, a private school for ‘troubled’ students, moves into her neighborhood amidst the protests of the entire town.

After
seeing the School Regent out with a group of young guys just before Christmas, Michelle is convinced that there is something odd about them. Her curiosity gets the better of her and she embarks upon a mission to figure out what is really going on. After an embarrassing fall over the school wall, Michelle meets Elliot and her ordinary ‘bland’ life changes its course forever.
Elliot is no ordinary human. In fact, no one at the Hekademos Learning Center
is. Beautiful and fierce, they have survived throughout the millennia by weaving in and out of human events. Through them, Michelle learns that history and myths from around the world are dotted with references to their kind. Michelle falls madly in love with the ever-striking and mysterious Elliot and, as much as he tries to fight it, he develops strong feelings for her as well. Although Elliot carries numerous painful memories from his many pasts, he disregards his own better judgment and the advice of his friends, and finds himself falling for Michelle‘s offbeat personality. Their feelings grow in intensity, but when History catches up with them, the difference between their life paths threatens to destroy any future that they might have had together.
Michelle learns that there are infinite shades of gray between black and white, and has to deal with the bundle of contradictory emotions called love. After some unexpected twists during a family trip to Europe, she has to trust her intuition in order to face the danger and uncertainty of being drawn into Elliot’s wondrous world. Ultimately, it is up to Michelle to make the split-second, life-altering decision that will either tear them apart forever, or give them another chance

A. Jacob Sweeny Guest Post and Giveaway

Woo Hoo! We are one of the stops today for the Romancing Your Dark Side book tour. Have you been following? It's bee a blast!
Today we have A. Jacob Sweeny, author of Pulse of Heros, with a guest post. I asked her how she came up with her characters and this is what she had to say. Hope you enjoy!

Pulse of Heroes has an ensemble of multi-dimensional characters and although they seem so very developed, this was not always the case and they weren’t all thought of in the beginning of my writing process.
The idea of the characters came as a two part process that was a few years apart. The idea of the immortal guys was what I had first. It came to me over six years ago, after I finished writing a historical screenplay. I spent more than a few years doing research for the screenplay itself, and once I was done I wanted to bring some of my findings into another readable and more accessible form.
At first I thought that I might write a historical fiction novel, but I wanted to cover so much more than what one lifetime can accomplish in a book. At the same time I didn’t want to be stuck writing book after book of generation after generation to bring all this interesting history that I researched to the front, as it spans thousands of years and numerous continents.
That’s when I came up with my heroes! They are the watchers, the witnesses of history, and of humanity. As witnesses they have lived many full lives and those lives and the knowledge they garnished from them has made them who they are. Although they had no names yet, I instantly knew exactly who Elliot would be, and had an inkling about the rest of them. Hence Haneul, Kahl , Rion, Devin, Ando, and Mikoto were born.
I put this idea away into the fold of my brains and continued on my own historical journey.

It was about 2 years ago, after I finished a Late bronze age/early Iron Age archaeological dig at a city port that the ideas of my heroes started to re-emerge.
Then I spent some time with my sixteen-year-old cousin, and we were talking about her school and also about the books she likes to read and other things, whether it was difficulties or just mundane everyday life stuff. That was when the spark happened and the idea of writing a coming of age romantic story became fused in with my hero ideas. That was when ‘Michelle,’ the main character of The Pulse trilogy, was born. She is very loosely based on cousin, a little bit of myself, and other female family members.
It’s all ‘history’ after that. And you can read about it in the book itself.

A. Jacob Sweeny

WOW! So what did you think? Leave a comment below telling us what you think about how she came up with her characters, if you have read her book, or why you want to. If you like you can also leave a question and when A. Jacob Sweeny has time she will stop by and answer.
There is also a giveaway! There are 2 prizes up for grabs today an E-book of Pulse of Heros and a Pulse of Heroes calendar poster. You will get an entry for each comment you leave. The winners will be announced tomorrow!

I had the great opportunity to read some of the books for review and thought I would share them with you!

Author: B.K. Walker

Keara Crosby had the perfect life. Her family was not hurting for anything. When her parents are suddenly killed, Keara must learn to live without them. After mourning their death for two months, Keara starts to live again. She follows her favorite band, hangs with her best friend Jared, and falls for the new kid on the block.
When her favorite band is playing at Night Secrets, a new club downtown, she takes her first outing since her parents death and finds this mysterious boy watching her. Mesmerized by his lapus blue eyes, she can't help but feel drawn to him. Her body responds to him in ways she never thought possible, and she needs to figure out why. What is it about Channing that has her yearning for his touch?
Not only is Keara drawn to Channing, but the owner of Night Secrets seems to be drawn to her. Giving her special treatment, she can't help but wonder what he's hiding, and the sense she's seen him before. When she's attacked in the parking lot, her world turns inside out, literally. Keara will soon learn that secrets of the night, just may be the death of her.

My Review:

I really like B.K.'s writing style. I think I have read almost all of her books and I am always waiting for more. Once again she did not disappoint. When I started reading Night Secrets I didn't want to put it down. I felt like I was actually at club, seeing the band live, and watching all of the action around me. My favorite character is Buddha and I am so glad he will be a part of Keara's new world and I really love her aunt.
There is continuous action that will keep you reading and keep you guessing. I was really sad the way it ended. Such a cliffhanger! I can't wait for the next book cause I am curious to know what is going to happen. Will Keara stay with the very intriguing Channing or will she go with the mysterious Corbin. And what will happen with Corbin's brother? So many questions.
I recommend this book to everyone that is 18 or older and if you are under 18 than you should definitely check out her other books.

Author: Jennifer Sommersby

Her mom is dead.
Ghosts follow her around.
Her best friend is an elephant.
And she’s about to meet the biggest game changer of all: a boy. With a secret.
When circus-dwelling Gemma Flannery learns she will be attending public school for the first time in her seventeen years, little does she know that fitting in with her 12th-grade classmates will be the least of her concerns. A pro at hiding her knack for seeing the dead (“shades”), Gemma is grieving the recent suicide of her mentally ill mother, a process eased by the introduction of her first real love interest, the charming and painfully handsome Henry Dmitri, who is harboring his own collection of dangerous secrets. Together, they will be presented with a frightening challenge: to assume their roles as heirs to a 3000-year-old magical text, the AVRAKEDAVRA, a book the über-rich, sleight-of-being master Lucian Dmitri would do anything to get his hands on. As each terrifying layer in her new reality melts away, Gemma unearths truths that her quiet, nomadic life with the Cinzio Traveling Players is not at all what she’d always cherished. Gemma and Henry must rely on each other to stop Lucian’s diabolical plotting that will bring the world to its tired, scab-riddled knees, and are sent on the flight of their young lives, to save themselves, their families, and the world from the darkest kind of destruction.
Let the chase begin.

My Review:

I fell in love with this book and got teary eyed in the first chapter. Actually, I was teary eyed through a lot of this book. It opens up at a funeral where Gemma is burying her mom. She didn’t know her mom all that well, besides the fact that she was crazy, and she doesn’t know who her dad is. So, Gemma got to full fill so many kid’s dreams and grew up in the circus! That’s not even the most interesting thing about her; the most interesting thing is, she can see shades (ghost).
The traveling circus that she is living with stays in one place for the first time for months and she has to start regular school for the very first time. She has never stayed in a place long enough to make close friends or fall in love. Her closed friends are two elephants and two acrobats. That all changes when she meets Henry Dmitri and it was love at first sight.
Everything is going great until one day she sees a letter comes for her with her Mother’s writing on it and the people that she is closest to hides it from her. She suddenly realizes that almost everyone around her is keeping secrets from her and she stops at nothing to uncover the truth but is it something she really wants to know? Once the secrets are brought to life the action doesn’t stop.
When you first look at this book you may think to yourself, “Wow, this is a long story.” But once you start reading it and the more you get involved with it you realize it’s not long enough especially at the end.
Jennifer knows how to suck the readers in and make them feel part of the story every step of the way. I can’t wait for the second one to come out; I am dying to know what happens next. I recommend this to everyone.

My Review:

I usually try to rush through most prologues in books because they don't hold my attention. But once I started reading this prologue I was hooked. It's not that often that the first thing you read is a vampire trying to commit suicide and then running into a little angel.
This book is about a strong minded female vampire, Katrina, who knows she should leave the human male, Caleb, that saved her alone but can't. And in turn puts Caleb's life in danger. She does everything that she can to protect him and sometimes goes a little too far. To add to the protection she has some other vampire friends to come help. And that's when my favorite character, Paige Turner, comes in. The hysterical babysitter/sister.
The story flows very well. There is on the edge of your seat danger, I wish I had that romance, I need a tissue sad, and laugh my butt off funny moments. I only have two complaints about this book. In some parts Katrina seemed more like a mother to Caleb than a lover/girlfriend. The only way I could justify the motherly actions while reading was that she was just trying to protect Caleb and at times it was to much like a mother would do.
The second complaint was that Katrina didn't open up to Caleb the way I wish she would have. Caleb opened up to her and put his life and heart into her hands but to me she couldn't do the same. I know she is afraid to tell him about their past that they share (that he doesn't remember) but other things about herself I wish she would have opened up more.
All in all this is a very good read. I really enjoyed it and I can't wait the for the sequel to see what happens. I recommend this book to everyone!

Katrina Rawlings is a vampire who has finally rediscovered happiness for the first time in centuries. But unwanted complications erupt with a vengeance. Decisions of necessity combined with dark memories from a forgotten past threaten her relationship with the love of her life. When a sacrifice must be made, can she endure her decision?
Caleb Taylor's life is finally back on track. He has rebounded from a near mortal injury, both physically and emotionally. Yet, his reality is shaken by the suggestion of a betrayal of trust from the woman he loves. Can the power of love overcome the power of a lie?
Paige Turner is a century old vampire who fearlessly revels in a simple existence pursuing blood, dancing, and sex. Simple needs, and all met in the same manner: hot, fast, and without regrets. But a spontaneous visit leads to heartfelt sacrifice, and unexpected complications strike fear to the core of her soul. Will she survive the revelations?
In the exciting second installment of the Sunset Vampire Series, a trust is betrayed, bonds of friendship are strained, relationships may end, and a tenuous neutrality among the world's vampire population is threatened. With stakes so high, some will not survive A Bloody London Sunset!

My Review:

When it comes to prologues Jaz never lets me down. I am always fascinated with them. In the first book the prologue had a vampire that almost commits suicide and in the second one there is a recap of a previous fight with blood and a rolling head. Yes, blood and gore captures me.
In A Bloody London Sunset we are thrown back into Caleb and Kat’s romance. Kat is still feeling guilty and refuses to feed from Caleb because of her accidental attack towards him. Caleb is trying to come up with a way for them to become closer and give her alpha vampire side some fun.
Caleb comes up with the wonderful game of Find Caleb. Which I love. Everything works out well and they both enjoy it until one night while playing another vampire attacks. Needless to say that did not go over well with Kat.
Are favorite friends are back including my favorite Paige Turner. I love her. She is scary and funny all in one package. I also love how she looks out for Caleb. Their relationship is very cute. The only problem is, is that Paige has more then friendly feelings for Caleb and needs to come to terms that there will be nothing but a friendship.
Back to the main characters. They take a trip to London and then the adventure begins. Lies, fighting, mistrust, and murder. What more could you ask for?
I can’t wait for the next book! Will Caleb become a vampire? What will happen with him and Kat? What will happen with Kat, Caleb, and Paige? Will we meet other Vamps? So many questions!
I recommend this to everyone 18 and older

Before that fateful summer night, Willow had balanced the insight of emotion, and the vivid images. That night, the figure in her nightmare marked her wrist with a star, giving her father no choice but to tell Willow a family secret that would abruptly change life, as she knew it, forever. Before Willow had time to absorb the shock of her father's secret, her soul mate that had shared every stunning dream with her, found her, and darkness captured her closest friends. In order to save them, she must weave through broken myths and the undeniable power of the Zodiac. In the end, Willow discovers that at the moment of our birth we are all given a divine gift.
My Review:

Jamie Magee's imagination will suck you right in. Insight involves astrology, other dimensions, past lives, fate, dangerous encounters, and most of all love. I didn't want to put the book down and when I did I couldn't stop thinking about it.
All the characters are easy to follow and connect with. The dialogue of the story makes you feel like you are right there in the middle of it. The message that I got out of reading this is that your destiny may be written out for you but you have the power to change it.
If you are looking for something new to read than I definitely recommend Insight.
I will leave you with my new saying " I live in Infante. I want to live in Chara, but I truly belong in Neime." If you want to find out what I am talking about then read this great book. You will not regret it!!

Author: Jamie Magee

Not many Scorpio’s are known for their patience, and Willow Haywood is no different. Her only desire is to love Landen Chambers and redeem the lost souls of Esterious, but the path to that desire is long, dark and dangerous...
Before Willow’s life had a chance to balance the sudden revelations and grief she had to endure to get to Chara a disturbing discovery is made. A photo, one that shows Willow blissfully embracing the flawless image of Drake Blakeshire; giving her not only proof that she had lived before, but that she had loved him.
Running away from the memory of Drake’s hypnotizing touch, and the prophecy set before her seemed like the logical thing to do. That is, until a dark dream reignites her passion to save the hopeless dimension of Esterious. Willow struggles to find patience – to learn everything she needs to know before she faces Drake again, but her eagerness is dangerous and one step in the wrong direction takes everything and everyone away from her – the only way to survive this trial is for Willow to remember who she is and what she really wants out of this life. The question is….can she do that?

My Review:

When I was offered to read this for a review I was excited. I was eager to jump back in to Jamie's world of strings, other demsions, and true love. Just so you know I was not disappointed.
Willow and Landen has just gotten over their first stand off with Drake and are now preparing for another one. While preparing for this next trail Willow and Landen spend more time with the ever loving and adorable Preston and Libby. The two young children teach Willow and Landen a new ability that will make them and all of their friends and family stronger. But learning this ability it also brings more danger and they find out exactly what kind of danger it can bring.
During this new trail that has to do with the orbit of Mercury and communication Willow and Landen bring together a new love. Willow learns a little bit more about her past lives and has to make risky choices that can jeopardize her and Landen's relationship.
While reading this sequeal to Insight I went through a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed, cried, got mad, was shocked and was filled with joy; any emotion you can think of I probably felt. Jamie knows how to pull her readers into the story and make them feel apart of it. From every detail to every emotion you feel like you are standing right in the middle of it. Insight was my number 1 YA book of 2010 and it looks as though Embody will be my number 1 of 2011.
If you haven't read Insight yet then get on it! And if you have then wait till you dive into Embody.

My Review:

I normally don't read thriller/mystery books, I usaully have a hard time getting into them. But when I started reading this book I was thouroghly surprised how sucked in I got. I couldn't put it down. It normally takes me at least 3-4 days to read a book but I read this on in less than 2 days.

I really like the way Michelle wrote this. There is so many twist, turns, and surprises that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Everytime time I assumed I knew what was going to happen I was proved wrong. I love it when an author can do that, to keep me guessing.

The discriptions were fantastic. I could visually see everything. All the characters worked well in the story and flowed easily without getting me confused.

I definitely recommend this book to evedryone and I can't wait to see what else Michelle will write in the future!

Lydia has worked hard to have the right job, the right wardrobe, and the right everything else, in the quest for the appearance of perfection. Fed up by conversation #3,524—not that she’s counting—about long-since-exed fiancé Gavin, Lydia goes to drastic measures to change the subject. When she needs her NEB for a golden career opportunity, she enlists a talent agent friend’s help to produce perfect date Phelps. He was supposed to be pure eye candy, but there’s more going on beneath the surface than Red Hots looks and Pop Rocks spontaneity. Throw in a banking wunderkind ex-fiancé, a trio of cutthroat couture-climbers, and a designer of questionable orientation and origin, and Lydia soon learns that what you see is often much less than what you get when it comes to people and not everything in life can be solved by a Jolly Rancher and a trip to Ann Taylor.

He's sweet, sexy, and funny. The perfect guy. And things only gets worse when he joins in on the stalking. If Phoebe Castro can keep her grades up and have another stellar cross-country season, her dream of attending USC with her best friends is only a track scholarship away. She’s made all her plans, so it’s a complete shock when her mom announces she’s marrying a mysterious stranger and moving them half-way around the world—to Greece.Phoebe’s stuck on a secret island in the Aegean attending the super-exclusive Academy, where her new stepfather is the headmaster and the kids are anything but your average students—they are descendants of the Greek gods, super powers included. That’s right, Greek gods are no myth! If Phoebe thought high school was hard, she knows this is going to be mortal misery.Securing that scholarship seems like Phoebe’s only ticket out of Greece, but training and maintaining her grades will be grueling, even without a sabotaging stepsister from Hades and a gorgeous guy—what a god!—who just might be her Achilles heel. One thing is for sure—summoning the will to win and find her place among the gods could be Phoebe’s toughest course yet.The Greek gods get a makeover in this romantic odyssey of mythic proportion.

Phoebe recently discovered she’s a descendent of Nike (the goddess, not the shoe), and now she's finding out that supernatural powers come with a crazy learning curve. Her new stepfather, headmaster of the Academy for descendants of Greek gods, has enrolled her in Dynamotheos Development Camp—aka Goddess Boot Camp—with a bunch of ten-year-olds for the summer. Embarrassing as that is, hopefully it’ll help her get control of her powers in time to pass the test of the gods, continue training hard enough to qualify for the Pythian Games (the only sporting event bigger than the Olympics), and enjoy her godly boyfriend, Griffin, all while avoiding getting smoted for accidental misuse of powers! It’s another fast-paced myth-inspired heroine’s quest that’s sure to bring out the goddess in anyone.

Lily Sanderson has a secret, and it's not that she has a huge crush on gorgeous swimming god Brody Bennett, who makes her heart beat flipper-fast. Unrequited love is hard enough when you're a normal teenage girl, but when you're half human, half mermaid, like Lily, there's no such thing as a simple crush.Lily's mermaid identity is a secret that can't get out, since she's not just any mermaid—she's a Thalassinian princess. When Lily found out three years ago that her mother was actually a human, she finally realized why she didn't feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she's been living on land and going to Seaview High School ever since, hoping to find where she truly belongs. Sure, land has its problems—like her obnoxious biker-boy neighbor, Quince Fletcher—but it has that one major perk: Brody. The problem is, mermaids aren't really the casual dating type—the instant they "bond," it's for life. When Lily's attempt to win Brody's love leads to a tsunami-sized case of mistaken identity, she is in for a tidal wave of relationship drama, and she finds out, quick as a tailfin flick, that happily ever after never sails quite as smoothly as you planned.

On Lily Sanderson’s eighteenth birthday she’ll become just a girl—still a mergirl, true, but signing the renunciation will ink Princess Waterlily of Thalassinia out of existence. That leaves plain old Lily living on land, dating the boy she loves, and trying to master this being-human thing once and for all.Now that Lily and Quince are together, mer bond or not, she’s almost content to give up her place in the royal succession of Thalassinia. But just when she thinks she has everything figured out, the waves start to get rough. Lily’s father sends a certain whirlpool-stirring cousin to stay with her on land. What did Doe do to get herself exiled from Thalassinia and stuck in terraped form, when everyone knows how much she hates humans? And why why why is she batting her eyelashes at Lily’s former crush, Brody? The seafoam on the raging surf comes when a merboy from Lily’s past shows up—Tellin asks Lily for something that clouds her view of the horizon. There’s a future with Quince on land, her loyalty to the kingdom in the sea, and Lily tossing on the waves in the middle. Will she find a way to reconcile her love, her duty, and her own dreams?

Grace just moved to San Francisco and is excited to start over at a new school. The change is full of fresh possibilities, but it’s also a tiny bit scary. It gets scarier when a minotaur walks in the door. And even more shocking when a girl who looks just like her shows up to fight the monster.Gretchen is tired of monsters pulling her out into the wee hours, especially on a school night, but what can she do? Sending the minotaur back to his bleak home is just another notch on her combat belt. She never expected to run into this girl who could be her double, though.Greer has her life pretty well put together, thank you very much. But that all tilts sideways when two girls who look eerily like her appear on her doorstep and claim they're triplets, supernatural descendants of some hideous creature from Greek myth, destined to spend their lives hunting monsters. These three teenage descendants of Medusa, the once-beautiful gorgon maligned by myth, must reunite and embrace their fates in this unique paranormal world where monsters lurk in plain sight.
Coming out September 6th.
