With it being the last day I thought I would do a blow out spotlight!

Here are today’s spotlights:

In THE GIRL NEXT DOOR, two teens are forced to make some very grown-up decisions when one of them is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Seventeen year old Samantha has been best friends with seventeen year old Jesse since she moved into the New York high-rise apartment next door to his thirteen years ago. Jesse is their school's poster child for popularity: good-looking, a star athlete, even Romeo in the school play. On opening night he collapses on stage. That's when doctors discover the unthinkable: a tumor on his spine. His type of cancer is virtually incurable – 97% of those diagnosed die within ten months.
Jesse shuts down, refusing to see most of his friends. He submits to treatments of chemo and radiation, but he doesn't possess hope. Sam is the one person he’ll talk to. He convinces his mom to let her sleep in another bed in his room, saying he's afraid to die alone.
That’s when Jess and Sam make a startling, bittersweet discovery: they’ve been in love all along.
THE GIRL NEXT DOOR addresses the universal question: In an unpredictable world, how can we possibly feel safe?

Darien Oceina is the youngest son of the Great Dragon Lord of the Water. For years he's loved and cherished Tai Dawson from afar. Tai is a simple, ordinary girl who doesn't even know Darien exists. On his eighteenth birthday, he chooses her as his wife. But there’s one problem: She thinks his choice means she's going to be offered as a sacrifice to the Dragon Lord, but instead, she’s forced to move to his home, far away, to give up her life and be his bride.
When she first sees Darien after the ceremony, she doesn’t expect to feel anything but hatred toward him. The two are struggling with the complications of a new marriage when their nation is attacked by a rival dragon species. Together they learn to love one another while they struggle to stay one step ahead in a game where the prize is their survival.

Ethan is a normal, everyday guy with an unusual hobby—he dabbles in the dark side of the paranormal.
His theories alienate those around him and attract the attention of entities better left undisturbed. Dreams, nightmares and reality meld until he is unable to distinguish between them, and is sent spiraling on a journey into blackness from which return, may not be an option.

Elle is an energetic, independent woman with a successful business and new start in the big city. The bustling streets of New York are not what she expected, yet she finds the freedom exhilarating. One interaction at the mailboxes with her shy, strikingly handsome neighbor is all it takes to turn the strong- willed young woman into a bumbling mess.
Jonah Quinn is withdrawn for good reason; he harbors a dark secret. He lives his life in the shadows, playing his music in late night bars and hiding himself from everyone but Elle's cat. His tattoos bear his pain while his music is his outlet, but it is his silence that keeps his shame at bay.
Can one night of passion between the two of them lead to more than casual glances exchanged at their mailboxes? Will Elle be strong enough to help Jonah with his personal demons. And will Jonah break his silence regarding a past that haunts him?
The Rules for this relationship are Unwritten. A story of longing, love, and forgiveness.

The last place fifteen-year-old Willow wants to spend her summer is on a run-down former coffee barge in a boatyard in Rockaway, New York. But that's where her aunt is converting the broken down hulk into a floating concert hall and Willow has no choice but to help; her unstable mom has kicked her out for the summer. Willow's miserable when she sees that there isn't even a shower on the barge, and she has to deal with Craig, the leering hunk of a construction worker working with her aunt. The only bright spot is Axel, an older teenage boy living alone on a neighboring sailboat. Introverted and mysterious, he has the soul of a poet, a deep, philosophical mind, and loves Shakespeare. He's also scarred by a painful, disturbing past, and the two bond through their shared pain and laughter. But when devastating events threaten to destroy them, Willow and Axel struggle to save each other--and themselves--before it's too late.

EVOLUTION, a novel, is now available on Kindle. MELT, a novel, is being released this fall by WestSide Books. THE GIRL NEXT DOOR is now available in paperback. Excerpts of all these books are on my website: SeleneCastrovilla.com.

Imagine if being late meant a child disappeared forever. That is the fear that drives Mike Brody: the man you want, when the one you love is missing. Mike is more than just a master tracker. An ex-Special Forces operative, Smoke jumper, and now extreme adventure tour guide, he also possesses a unique ability to tap into the memory and emotional state of those he pursues. In The Last Track, a police detective recruits Mike to help find an asthmatic boy lost in the dense woods surrounding a dude ranch in Montana. An unwitting murder witness, the boy burrows ever deeper into the rugged terrain, fearful of being found. As Mike and a local officer search for the boy, the killer follows them. Her discoveries threaten to snare them all in a treacherous conspiracy

On the morning of her sixteenth birthday, Renee Lewis was awakened by the smell of her favorite breakfast cooking, interrupting an incredible, yet odd dream. Like any other sixteen-year-old, she was dreaming of driving around in a red sports car after finally getting her driver's license. What was so unusual was her passenger: a gorgeous, foreign boy arrogantly displaying a flirtatious grin. This somewhat shy and unpretentious girl—busy vying for the role of valedictorian, spending time at church, and hanging out with her best friend Jamie—had never let a boy be a distraction. But she had to wonder...was this dream trying to tell her something? Was it time for a change?

That change comes with the arrival of Kyran, a devilishly handsome young man who unexpectedly shows up at her school and suddenly all her priorities began to shift. He quickly gained the attention of her best friend and every other girl at school. Renee, more annoyed by him at first, was eventually won over by his over-the-top charm. It wasn't long before temptations and tribulations, unlike any she's ever had to face before, began to change the course of Renee's life ensuring that nothing would ever be the same again. This once sheltered and in control girl becomes lost and confused, turning to worldly desires to ease her pain. Aware that Renee is in constant danger from the dark side, God assigns a very special angel to protect her. And so the immense battle for Renee's soul begins—a battle that will impact not only her friends and family but also the quaint town of Westcliffe, Colorado.

A new series of scaries from Dan Dillard, author of Demons and Other Inconveniences. What Tangled Webs includes more stories of the dark and sinister stripe. How far will these poor souls go to get over on the system, each other, even mother nature? Many of them will go to the grave...
Includes the novella, "The Wager" in which Jacob Kane finds himself surviving hell on Earth. He's lost the woman he loves, his peaceful life, and worst of all, his soul. One too many shots of liquor and he engages the Beast. What has the Devil got in store for him? Bounty hunting the most despicable people on the planet. Will he find a loophole in his contract? Or will he develop a taste for this brand of justice?

This is a young adult book that tackles the issues of cutting and suicide as it chronicles the journey of one girl destined to be a no one--that is until she finds a way to survive.
Excerpt
Something's wrong. It’s not a heart-grabbing noise like when somebody jiggles the doorknob to see if it’s locked. It’s not a bitter smell like the electrical short we had last month, when all the breakers popped. No. It’s something in the air, something like a ghost making its way through the room. And it can’t be Monster, not after last night.

He's my teacher. I shouldn't be alone with him. But I can't help that he's irresistible. I let the door silently close at my back. He stared at me, and a taut quiet stretched between us. "I like hearing you play," I said, moving toward him. He turned, in sync with my slow approach. He looked up at me but didn't say anything. I rested my clammy hand on the cold, slick body of the baby grand. "May I?" The muscles in his throat shifted, then he swallowed. "Eden." My knees weakened, like a soft tickling kiss had just been blown against the backs of them. "Is it okay?" I asked. His gaze held mine like two hands joined. He understood what I was really asking. "Let me stay," I said. "Please." "You're going to get me in trouble," he said.

We all have demons. My advice is to look into the darkness and face them head on. They're only as frightening as you let them be.

This is a collection of 16 short horror stories including Pig Man, Ingrate, Demon of Walker's Woods, Unlucky in Death as well as 7 new shorts previously unavailable. Each one deals with a different demon, some tangible, some festering from within...all deadly.

Some dark comedy, sci-fi and probably not for the kids.
