Christmas Celebration with Jennifer Laurens

Today Jennifer Laurens, author of The Heavenly series, Falling For Romeo, Magic Hands, Nailed, A Season of Eden,and Overprotected, is here to ask you a question. Maybe you can help.

This Christmas has been hard for me to get into the Christmas Spirit. Family issues, economic issues have all contributed to making me a bit of a Grinch. I didn’t even want to put up decorations. Does anyone else feel this way?
What have you done to get into the holiday spirit?
One of the things I know helps, is giving. The Christmases I’ve enjoyed most is the ones I’ve done secret Santa giving, 12 Days of Christmas giving or—let’s be honest—had the income to do a bang up holiday with exciting prezzies I can’t wait for the receiver to open.
I always appreciate hearing what other people do to get themselves excited about the holidays. Please share your thoughts so you can be entered to win a copy of Heavenly and a pair of angel wings for your tree!

So...What do you do to get into the Christmas spirit? Feel out the Rafflecopter below to enter. Giveaway ends the 18th. Good Luck!

I met someone who changed everything. Matthias. My autistic sister's guardian angel. Honest. Inspiring. Funny. Hot. And immortal. That was the problem. What could I do? I did what any other girl would do-I fell in love with him.

Zoe's sister darts in front of cars. Her brother's a pothead. Her parents are so overwhelmed; they don't see Zoe lost in her broken life. Zoe escapes the only way she knows how: partying. Matthias, a guardian sent from Heaven, watches over Zoe's autistic sister. After Zoe is convinced he's legit, angel and lost girl come together in a love that changes destiny. But Heaven on Earth can't last forever.

  1. i'm also not into decorating this year. seems like a lot of trouble, nobody comes over to enjoy it. kids aren't home anymore. i do have a 1 foot tree that would take me all of 1 hour to decorate and get set up. i might do it after more eye surgery tomorrow. cookies are done, mailed out, gifts went out in sept. been knitting mini ornaments to send out to the kids this year also. working on those still. been reading TONS of christmas named novels to help get me in the mood :}

  3. The one thing that has put me in the mood for Christmas is my children. I don't know what I'd do without them. I lost my niece in January at a young 29 years of age and her day was Christmas, making this holiday, besides the first without her, harder yet. I'll miss her and her hugs and smiles. My children tell me that she'll be there in spirit, wishing us the best and that she'd want us to have a good one for her, so that's what we'll do. Thank you for the giveaway.

  4. I was very captivated by your reasons for not engaging in the delights of the season. I have had similar difficulties of personal health and family financial troubles.
    I have found being honest instead of pretending that everything is fine with a close confidante who helped me focus on the little joys in my life instead of the big stressers helped. I have also put together baked gifts for some lonely elderly people I know, for my neighbors, for former co-workers, and for service people in my life and actually giving it to them personally on days that I feel well has cheered me more than them.
    Mostly, I have found that simplifying my activities during the holiday season have helped.

    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. I would love to read your book.

  5. Sorry to hear that Jennifer! I know I've had my share of going through that, especially with the financial part. It can get very hard & stressful. A few things that have helped me out & get into the spirit are 1) baking, I like to bake a variety of holiday treats for friends & family. It's very distracting & it makes my day seeing them happy when I surprise them with sweets. 2) decorating my home or helping family decorate their home while listening to Christmas music. It helps us get in the holiday mood, we like to sing along or act goofy too just to make it fun, it always cheers me up. 3) I drive through neighborhoods or downtown to look at all the holiday lights & decorations. It's quite a sight, very beautiful & it calms my nerves. 4) lastly, I read a lot of books. It's my favorite thing to do and that one never fails to help me out.

    Hope any of these help! :)
