Christmas Celebration with Cynthia Garcia

Today's special guest is...ME!!!! Taa Daa! I will be talking to you about why I like reading and what were some of my favorite books that I read in 2011. So, get ready cause here we go!

Why do I read? People get asked this all the time and I always like to see their answers. But for me, I don't read to escape or because I am looking for something better than my reality. I read because it lets me travel...it lets me have an adventure that I would never be able to do or have. One day I could be in India trying to break an ancient curse, the next I could be traveling different dimensions trying to save a city, or I could be in the future trying to protect me and my family from the tragic changes that has happened around us. With each new book I never know what part of the world I will be and what I may encounter and that's what makes me excited about reading.

Reading has also allowed my family and I to become closer. When I read the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins I constantly talked about it to them. Telling them how lucky we all are compared to what the characters in the book are going through. I offered my husband, who doesn't read at all, to read him him a couple chapters a night before bed. One night when we were half way through the 1st book I was too tired to read more than one chapter. When I closed the book he grabbed it and ended up reading the whole series in a week. Eventually my son and step son decided to read it. My step son is currently on the 3rd book and my son is almost done with the 1st one. Now we all have something in common to talk about.

Some of my favorite reads from 2011 are:

Divergent by Veronica Roth

The Tigers series by Colleen Houck

Embody and Image by Jamie Magee

The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost (adult)

The Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole (adult)

The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins

The Powertools series by Jayne Rylon (adult)

The Fitzgerald Family series by E.B. Walters (adult)

Those are just a few. We would be here all day if I listed all of them. But those are my TOP tops.
